The guest house “Il Balzolo” is located in the upper part of Pennapiedimonte, a small town in the province of Chieti, near the belvedere from which it takes its name, at about 700 metres in altitude. From Balzolo you can enjoy a 360-degree view, from the Maiella massif to the Adriatic Sea. In moments of good visibility you can also admire the Tremiti islands.
It can easily be reached from the former state road 263 and has public parking a few metres from the main entrance.

Our structure originates from a original core dug into the rock in the eighteenth century, which then expanded in the mid-1800s and was completed after the Second World War. It was used as a private residence and partly as a shelter for pack animals and towing animals.
The characteristic of this house, like many others in our region, is that of having been carved into the rock and completed with stone walls of the Maiella. The renovation, begun in 2015, was aimed at preserving this particularity intact, bringing the stone back to its original beauty, complete with wooden fixtures, stairs and floors. A photovoltaic system has also been installed. It is spread over a ground floor, with a garden, a first floor and a terrace.
.
There are two common areas, inside; one for breakfast with a bathroom that can be used by everyone, the other is that of the living room with fireplace and television. Then there are two outdoor areas, a panoramic terrace where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the valley and the sea beyond, and a garden which, in a corner, has a space reserved for children’s games.
Free wifi is available in all rooms.
